Molycop builds future talent in Peru

Final-year Metallurgical Engineering students at the National University of Trujillo in Peru joined a Molycop training session to hear about how Molycop Tools can troubleshoot and streamline grinding operations for optimal outcomes.

Key Facts

  • The training session focused on imparting technical skills to students in an industry setting.
  • Of particular benefit to students was their ability to experiment with Molycop Tools, an advanced software tool that enables precise evaluation and optimisation of grinding circuits.
  • Molycop takes proactive steps towards fostering future talent in the mining sector.
Molycop has conducting an in-depth training session for final-year Metallurgical Engineering students at the National University of Trujillo in Peru.

The session was led by César Poma Legua, a Senior Applications Engineer with extensive industry experience, who has been instrumental in advancing Molycop’s technical training initiatives. His expertise and commitment provided the students with invaluable insights, preparing them for their upcoming careers in the mining and metallurgy fields.

A deep dive into grinding circuit optimisation

The training was designed to bridge the gap between academic concepts and real-world applications. Students explored theoretical aspects of conventional grinding processes and delved into the complex mechanics of milling circuits.

What set the session apart was the students’ ability to experience Molycop Tools hands-on. Molycop Tools is an advanced software tool developed by Molycop that enables precise evaluation and optimisation of grinding circuits, allowing users to improve efficiency and overall performance.

César demonstrated how Molycop Tools can simulate various scenarios, helping users troubleshoot and fine-tune their operations for optimal outcomes. This exposure gave students a taste of the industry-standard tools they’ll likely use in their professional lives.

Education and professional growth

The training session forms part of a larger Molycop’s initiative to support education and skill-building across the industry. By partnering with institutions like the National University of Trujillo, Molycop aims to provide students with a robust foundation in essential technical skills and a deeper understanding of the industry.

Molycop training sessions go beyond textbooks to offer a blend of academic knowledge and applied techniques, ensuring that students are better equipped for the demands of the field.

Collaboration with the National University of Trujillo

The success of the training session wouldn’t have been possible without the support of the National University of Trujillo. The university’s commitment to providing its students with industry-relevant education reflects a goal it shares with Molycop: to create a well-prepared, skilled workforce that will continue to drive innovation in the mining sector.

Molycop remains committed to programs supporting emerging talent, fostering growth and strengthening connections between academia and industry. By equipping future engineers with both knowledge and tools, Molycop is helping shape the leaders of tomorrow.
