Molycop supports next generation of engineers at MINEXCHANGE 2025

Molycop sponsored West Virginia University student Kaveh Asgari, winner of this year’s SME MPD Fred Bond award, to attend the MINEXCHANGE 2025 SME Annual Conference and Expo.

Kaveh Asgari, a Research Assistant at West Virginia University, was one of two students sponsored by Molycop to attend the prestigious MINEXCHANGE 2025 Annual SME Conference and Expo held in Denver, Colorado.Asgari shared his research in the form of a paper and a poster at the conference and received the SME MPD Fred Bond award for excellence in technical content and written quality of a paper on comminution. 


Molycop supports industry’s leading lights

Asgari was one of two students sponsored by Molycop this year, with sponsorship covering the students’ travel, accommodation and conference registration expenses. 

Molycop sponsored two events at this year’s conference, with proceeds going towards the student scholarship program. 

Molycop is a title sponsor of the annual Mineral Processing Division (MPD) Scotch Nightcap. It’s also a supporting sponsor of the SME MPD luncheon, which honours industry professionals and division members.

Geoffrey Veytia, Molycop Regional Commercial Manager, said both events offered a valuable opportunity to recognise industry leaders, as well as support engineering students who show immense promise: 

All proceeds [from the events] go towards the MPD Student Scholarship Fund, which awards varying scholarships to more than a dozen students in both graduate and undergraduate programs.

Being able to provide financial assistance to students, specifically metallurgical/mineral processing engineering students, alleviates some of their financial stresses as well as differentiates us from other suppliers.
